Log Delivery Day!

Today the logs came! There were 5 trucks.

The truckers refused to drive down our bumpy road so the logs had to be unloaded at the front of the property.

Jacob helped!

Foundation June 26

So now we have our own road into the land. I'm thinking "Twotrees Lane." What does anyone else think of for a name?
This is the concrete for the foundation. In the back is the cutout for the fireplace. The logs get delivered on Monday June 29!

Putting up foundation walls

The forms are for the concrete that will make up the walls of the foundation. On Saturday I'll try to take some video.
This is the foundation for the breezeway that connects to the garage.

Excavation & foundation

The work is starting on the foundation and 5 truckloads of gravel were spread on the road. I think that next week is concrete. The builder had hoped to put in concrete yesterday, but they ran into too much rock to get it all dug out. I guess that makes us wise since the Bible says, "The wise man builds his house upon the rock!"

Digging the Foundation

Jacob and Liz went out to the site and took lots of pictures. Work on the road continues and several truckloads of gravel for the road were brought in. The foundation work has been started. Let's hope it will be sturdy!

One more video to see the home site

First post on our log home

Hi
I don't imagine too many people will be interested, but I thought it would be fun to chronicle the construction of the log home. Any suggestions that people have will be welcomed.

Here is what the home site looked like before we started construction - the shed held camping gear and a chain saw since tress were constantly blocking the trail to the back of the land.

After one day of clearing - lots of trees are gone already!
Now the trail going to the site is wide enough to actually drive on!
Here's a link to the video of it.

Now the site has lots more trees cleared and the smoke is from the "controlled burn" of the tress that were cleared.
